Marijuana-Infused Coffee
7/03/2016Fairwinds Manufacturing was started with the intention of bringing cutting-edge technology and modern processing techniques into the forefront of the cannabis industry. They are also fully immersed in modern supplement processing techniques and quality assurance standards that are recommended by the FDA and accepted across the natural supplement industry.
Their approach to the cultivation and processing of cannabis is a combination of simplicity, state-of-the-art digital technology, and devotion. They are committed to the statement "Cannabis is not a business opportunity, it is a humanitarian opportunity'.
James Hull (Fairwinds Owner) is a world-class engineer with vast experience in military systems design, utilizing advanced digital and mechanical technologies. He has brought that high-tech approach to the Fairwinds facility design for cultivating cannabis, integrating sophisticated computer controlled hardware, allowing for maximum consistency and responsiveness in the grow environment.
The flower is then handled with care and attention from harvest to infusion. First, dried and cured in a controlled environment, producing superb flavors and maximizing potency. Some of the flower is trimmed further and sold for smoking, but most of it is ground into an sticky powder and loaded into the closed-loop extraction system. The oil concentrate is then further processed to activate the cannabinoids for edibles, or processed (de-waxing) into vapor cartridges. Terpenes that are lost in processing are recovered and added back into our vape cartridges, for a terpene rich, strain-specific flavor.

To make Catapult, Hull buys mostly fair trade coffee from local Northwest roasters and then infuses the beans with oils extracted from the Cannabis plants he grows. In his caffeinated coffee, Hull uses the Sativa strain of marijuana, which he says offers a “happy get up and go,” feeling. De-caffeinated coffee is in development, and will be made with the Indica strain of marijuana, which Hull says gives a more relaxed feeling. “That’s the coffee you can drink before bed to help you sleep,” he said.
“This is not a replacement for the coffee you drink before you hop in the car and get on the freeway to drive to work,” said Hull, noting that drivers could be considered legally impaired after drinking it.
